June Wellness Retreat at Garnet Hill Lodge

Join us at Garnet Hill Lodge for our Wellness Retreat – Wednesday, June 9 through Friday, June 11, 2021!

Set aside life’s obligations, everyday stressors, and the challenges of this past year to focus on your health and wellbeing in the beautiful Adirondack mountains.  Experience the perfect mix of high-intensity workouts, breathtaking hikes, and mountain biking options as you enjoy the great outdoors with our experienced guides.  Discover tranquility and rejuvenation through yoga, mindful meditation, and educational sessions promoting lasting lifestyle changes.  Relax and unwind as you spend an evening soaking in the beautiful views from our outdoor fire pit, enjoy a culinary experience sure to please all taste buds in our Log House Restaurant, and share a toast during an informative and fun wine tasting.

Day One:  Wednesday, June 9, 2021

3 p.m. – Check-in at our reception desk

4 p.m. – 5 p.m. – Mindful Meditation workshop with Donna Hier.

5:15 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. – 30-minute Yoga Session led by Michele Pearsall

6:30 p.m. – Welcome & information reception with healthy hors d’oeuvres & hand-picked wines

7 p.m. – 8 p.m. – Dinner in our Log House Restaurant featuring a special, health-conscious menu created by Chef Michael Crandall

8:30 p.m. – Enjoy our beautiful outdoor fire pit

 

Day Two:  Thursday, June 10, 2021

7:30 a.m. – “Salute the Sun” 30-minute Yoga Session

8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. – Breakfast in our Log House Restaurant

10 a.m. – 11 a.m. – Educational session – Learn how to create behavioral changes, the stages of change, and how to implement them into your lifestyle.

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Guided hike and meditation with Donna (packed lunches will be enjoyed out on our trail system).

1:30 p.m. – 3 pm – Choice of “Intro into Mountain Biking” led by Kate Kuklinski or “Intro into Trail Running” led by Sue Pearsall

3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. – Choice of a Stand-Up Paddle Boarding Clinic (learn proper paddling techniques and explore a few yoga postures with Michele) or Kayaking Clinic (enjoy a relaxing kayak tour with Patrick & Kate)

6 p.m. – Dinner in our Log House Restaurant featuring a special, health-conscious menu (with vegetarian and gluten-free options available) created by Chef Michael Crandall

7:30 p.m. – Informative and fun wine tasting led by Anna Bowers

 

Day Three:  Friday, June 11, 2021

7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. – Morning Yoga Session with Michele

8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. – Breakfast in our Log House Restaurant

10 a.m. – 11 a.m. – Group workout – a combination of functional fitness, yoga, and compound movements with dumbbells (high-intensity).  Note:  Options and adjustments are always included based on personal needs and fitness levels.

11 a.m. – Check-out

We only have two spots left for our Wellness Retreat!  To book your reservation or find out more information, please call 518-251-2444.  To ensure all participants get the most out of their experience and to adhere to Covid-19 safety measures, we are limiting this retreat to the first 10 guests who make a reservation.

PRICING FOR DOUBLE OR SINGLE ROOM (Cost is all-inclusive and includes lodging, all indoor and outdoor activities, all meals, rentals for mountain biking, paddle boarding, etc.):

Double-room with sleeping for two people:  $510 per person

Single room:  $710 per person

Meet our Experienced Guides:

All hike leaders are licensed guides and wilderness first aid responders.  

Michele Pearsall, Manager of Garnet Hill Lodge’s Outdoor Center, will lead the majority of the educational workshops and classes. Michele has a Masters in Community Health, is an ACE Personal Trainer (American Council on Exercise), Functional fitness specialist (ACE), 200-hour RYT and Phoenix Rising Yoga therapy Level I, as well as World Paddle Association Paddle instructor and SUP Yoga Certified.  She has over 30 years of experience in health and wellness including teaching at the collegiate level.  She is a Level II PSIA Alpine and Nordic Instructor.  

Since 2008, Anna Bowers has been the owner of bV cellars where she is the director of the bV wine club and where she recently launched the Juice Box:  Virtual Wine Tastings for the Enthusiastic & Curious.  Anna loves creating fun, interactive experiences that demystify wine and encourage people to try new things.  Anna will lead the group through an informative and fun wine tasting. 

Kate Kuklinski is an Outdoor Center staff member who will lead hikes and offer an intro session on Mountain biking.  Kate grew up in the Adirondack Park and has degrees in Outdoor Adventure Sports and Environmental Studies with a focus on Ecology.  She holds a level II AASI certification, a level I Nordic Certification and is pursuing a graduate degree in Forest Resources as a research assistant at the University of Maine.  Her research focuses on mountain biking in rural communities.  In her spare time, you can find her mountain biking, reading, or out in the woods with her husky.

Patrick Murray will lead hikes and kayak tours. Patrick is a licensed guide and has been an employee at Garnet Hill for six years.  He is a valued member of our Outdoor Center Staff, and he has a vast knowledge of the history of Garnet Hill.  He is Level II Alpine and Level I Nordic.  

Donna Hier began her formal career in 2004 with her first Reiki certification.  She continued in 2005 while attending massage school at CNW, School of Massage Therapy.   Her most recent addition in 2018 is teaching meditation and breathwork.  This is an exploration into breathwork and meditation that can be geared toward the beginner or those  who have tried meditation and didn’t “get it” or anyone who simply wants to revitalize their practice.  A combination of information, instruction, and sitting meditation will assist you in bringing peace and quiet to the mind.
Sue Pearsall runs with Central Park Track Club in NYC, and in 2015 she decided to share her love of running with people in her neighborhood.  She started small classes with a group of women who wanted to run with other women.  She loves watching her clients progress as coaching brings her so much joy.  Her impressive accomplishments include:  35-39 American and World Record 4 x 800m Relay, All-American in 800m/1500m/3000m and 5k, coached and captained McGraw-Hill Running Team for 10 years, Vice President of Central Park Track Club 2005-2019.  She holds multiple certifications including VDot 02 Running Coach, Road Runners club of America Certified Coach, USATF, USOC Mental Training for Performance, and CPR & First-Aid.
Chef Michael Crandall joined Garnet Hill Lodge as Executive Chef in March 2020.  A true culinary specialist, Chef Michael passionately and expertly prepares dishes made from scratch with fresh, authentic ingredients in our Log House Restaurant.  Originally from Oneonta, New York, Chef Michael began his career at the Holiday Inn Turf on Wolf Road in Albany, New York.  He has worked in downstate New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Vermont.  Most recently, he served as the Executive Chef at the Queensbury Hotel for nearly 14 years.  Michael and his family have lived in the area since 2004.
