These fun and informative outings are a great, active way to learn some local history and appropriate for the whole family. Tours are led by our very own hiking guide, Patrick Murray and will meet at the Front Desk.
Our most popular hikes:
Balm of Gilead ~
This beautiful hike starts at our Adventure Center and takes you to the top of Gilead where you can enjoy stunning views of the Adirondacks and look down on 13th lake.
Difficulty Level – Moderate
Time: Approximately 1.5 hours
Hooper Mine ~
This easy, laid back hike is filled with information on the mine and it’s connection to our historic lodge. Discover abandoned mines’ shacks along the path, search for clues from the past and discover garnet embedded in the rocks of the old mine.

Sundays 10am—Hooper Mine (Update: No hike on Sunday, 10/8)
Join us as we take our time walking up to Hooper Mine. This easy, laid back hike is filled with information on the mine and it’s connection to our historic lodge. Enjoy looking down from the ridge of the mine, discover abandoned mines’ shacks along the path, search for clues from the past and discover garnet embedded in the rocks of the old mine. This is a great hike for hikers of all ages.
Level—Easy. Time—Approximately 1 hour.
