There is always plenty to do during your stay at Garnet Hill Lodge. No matter the season there is a range of activities available both on-site and off-site to keep you active during your Adirondack adventure. The following are off-site activities offered through our partners in the community. They can be booked online or by calling the front desk at (518) 251-2444.
Adding-on Garnet Hill’s winter excursions allows you to take advantage of all that the North Creek/North River area has to offer. At the end of a great day on the slopes, snuggle up to our large, beautiful garnet stone fireplace, enjoy après-ski drinks and appetizers or relax and enjoy the delicious fare in our Log House Restaurant and Pub.
Ski Downhill at Gore Mountain
Looking for an exceptional downhill skiing experience? Look no further than Gore Mountain! Conveniently located just minutes from our Lodge in North Creek, Gore Mountain is a popular winter destination, attracting skiers from all over the east. Offering four unique peaks, Gore Mountain is the largest trail and lift network in the state of New York.

1 Day of Guided Ice Fishing for Two- Our fishing trips are offered through our partners at Adirondack Mountain and Stream. Each tour can be customized to the guests’ skill-set and preferences, and offers you the opportunity to take part in in this unique winter tradition. To ensure the availability of guides, we request that you give us as much advance notice as possible when booking a guiding trip, but trips must be booked at least 7 days in advance.

A Whitewater Rafting Trip for Two – A whitewater rafting trip through the Hudson River Gorge is rafting at its best. From early spring through summer, scheduled water releases from the Lake Abanakee dam make the seventeen-mile wilderness run the longest stretch of whitewater in New York. Early spring rafting is ideal for those who are looking for a thrill as melting snow and ice rushes through the Gorge, creating plenty of white water. In late spring, the trip is a bit calmer making it accessible for a wider range of adventure seekers.

Located about 40 minutes from Garnet Hill is the Adirondack Experience museum. With 121 sprawling acres and over two dozen buildings and exhibition spaces to explore, you can count on your Adirondack Experience visit to be just that: an experience that’s action-packed, entertaining, educational, and fun for the entire family. From feeding trout, to bird watching, to interacting with craftsmen as they ply their trades, to strolling gallery after gallery of Adirondack art, photography, furniture, tools, cabins, boats and more, the Adirondack Experience has something for everyone. This makes a great day out, rain or shine.

About an hour drive from Garnet Hill Lodge is Six Flag’s Great Escape and Splash Water Kingdom. Celebrating over 60 years, The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom in beautiful Lake George, New York is a theme park that has served as a summer haven for generations of families for decades. Today, it’s home to over 135 rides and attractions including thrill rides, family rides and a full waterpark. Thrills await teens and adults on The Comet, rated as one of the world’s top coasters, and the 192-foot drop tower, Sasquatch. Little ones love the two children’s themed areas, Timbertown and Kidzopolis, and there’s plenty for everyone in between. Splashwater Kingdom is the largest waterpark in the area, with a giant wave pool and a variety of speed slides, and is free with theme park admission.

A Gondola Ride at Gore – Enjoy a beautiful gondola ride to admire the views and fall foliage from the top of Gore Mountain Ski Resort. Their scenic sky rides are a great way to spend a half hour at Gore or the entire day. Take in stunning views of the High Peaks and Southern Adirondacks, and take the opportunity to hike and picnic. Be sure to check out their self-guided interpretive hikes, one in the Base Area and one at the top of Bear Mountain where the gondola unloads. Excellent photo opportunities- have fun!
