From hiking and mountain biking in the summer to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, Garnet Hill Lodge is a destination for outdoor fun. We offer a wide range of on-site activities for both overnight guests and day users, and as of 2022, everyone can now enjoy one of the world’s fastest-growing sports – disc golf – right at our Outdoor Center. Find out more about the sport of disc golf, our new 9-hole course, and other useful information to help you plan your next visit.
Designed for people of all ages and fitness levels to enjoy, disc golf combines the act of throwing a disc with the rules and other elements of traditional golf. Each game of disc golf begins at the tee area and ends at the target, which is typically a metal pole with a basket.
Courses usually feature 9 or 18 holes, and players move through the course from the first to last hole. With the sport becoming more popular in recent years, many courses have opened up in public parks and other recreational centers, including the Garnet Hill Outdoor Center in the beautiful Adirondacks.
In late spring 2022, we officially opened our new 9-hole disc golf course to the public. The course starts just outside our Outdoor Center and brings players on a mile loop around our main lodge, the Log House, and along some of the hiking trails too.
We designed the course to cater to both first-time disc golfers and more experienced players. Each hole requires you to utilize a range of different throws in order to succeed, and you can expect to encounter elevation changes while traveling through the woods.
Disc golf at Garnet Hill is free for guests and day users who have their own discs. If you’re new to the sport and want to try it out, we charge a $30 disc rental fee that includes one putter, one midrange, and one driver. Afterwards, players may opt to keep the discs for that $30 fee, or return them after the game and get a $15 refund.
Once you’ve discovered just how easy and fun disc golf is though, we believe you’ll want to play again and again. Give it a shot, and then stick around afterwards for some delicious food and drinks at our Log House Restaurant or Bobcat Bar & Grill.
Are you ready to learn a new sport or show off your disc golf skills? Our course is open from spring – fall along with plenty of other fun outdoor activities for overnight guests and day-trippers to enjoy the great outdoors.
