Garnet Hill Lodge and Resort in North River, NY has just been named the #4 cross country ski resort in North America by USA Today 10Best’s list of cross-country ski resorts, and is the highest-ranking cross-country ski resort in the Northeast.  Garnet Hill was initially selected as one of 20 nominees by a group of industry leading experts, then voted into fourth place by readers.

This is fantastic news for Garnet Hill, coming on the heels of recognition for their lodging accommodations in Newsday’s recent article entitled “Ski Resorts with the Best Lodges: Where to stay in Vail, Lake Tahoe, Gore Mountain, more.” Momentum is building for the North Creek Area as a premier destination for both downhill and cross-country skiing, and mother nature is cooperating, having delivered the best November snow locals can remember.

Garnet Hill Outdoor Center recently celebrated this fantastic start to the 2018-2019 ski season with their annual Winter Open House in which attendees were treated to music by local band, Finger Diddle, a beer tasting event and delicious food.  One of the highlights of the season opening event was the unveiling of the beautiful new space on the second floor of the Outdoor Center. Now that the Outdoor Center is able to serve beer and wine, this is to be a hot spot for Après-Ski on Saturdays from 4-7:30pm.

Following closely behind Garnet Hill in the USA Today 10Best rankings was Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center.  Jim Rucker, owner of Garnet Hill Lodge and Resort, said, “I’m thrilled to see the Adirondack region receiving national recognition as a first-rate destination for cross-country skiing”.  Season pass-holders to either of these two nationally ranked resorts now enjoy the benefits of the “Ski the Adirondacks” reciprocity program.  New this season, the program allows pass-holders to save 30% off the price of a day pass at the other resort.

Nestled atop a hillside in the mountains of upstate New York, near the Hudson River and Gore Mountain, Garnet Hill Lodge is a four-season Adirondack hotel and resort with stunning views of 13th Lake and the Adirondack Mountains. In the winter, the Garnet Hill Outdoor Center is a premiere center for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. In the spring, summer and fall, it provides access to a wide range of warm weather activities, including hiking, swimming, paddling, mountain biking, whitewater rafting and a host of local attractions.

All year round the Lodge functions as a unique hotel and event venue, with rustic yet elegant accommodations, an outstanding restaurant, cozy pub, and beautiful grounds.  The Log House Restaurant and Pub is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, serving delicious and exquisitely prepared American food that is sourced from local farms, including their own vegetable garden, whenever possible.
