Cross-country skiing at Garnet Hill is an adventure you won’t want to miss. Our property boasts over 50 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski trails, set tracks, and skating lanes that wind through the beautiful Adirondack backcountry. Never been cross-country skiing before? No problem! The Garnet Hill Outdoor Center provides equipment rentals and cross-country skiing lessons with knowledgeable instructors to help you get started.
Try something new and roam through the snow-covered woods on designated snowshoe trails at Garnet Hill this winter. This popular activity is both easy to learn and a great way to get outside and explore the Adirondack scenery. Our snowshoe trail system consists of six different routes totaling 15 kilometers. In addition to trails, there are plenty of wilderness paths in the area to check out.
The Outdoor Center also offers snowshoers the newest equipment, which features snow and ice cleats that grip the ground to create a no-slip traction system. The newer snowshoes are light and easy to use, making them an excellent option for snowshoers of all levels!
If you’re looking for a more exhilarating experience, Garnet Hill Lodge is conveniently located near Gore Mountain, a premier alpine skiing destination in North Creek. Enjoy the thrill of racing through fresh, powdery snow while surrounded by mountain scenery.
Gore Mountain is home to the most extensive trail and lift network in New York State and includes seven mountain areas, 14 lifts, and 109 trails. This ski resort offers a variety of trails, from gentle slopes for beginners to challenging runs for expert skiers and snowboarders. The beautiful mountain views and well-maintained facilities make Gore an ideal spot for a day of downhill adventures.
Winter in the Adirondacks wouldn’t be complete without experiencing the age-old winter activity of ice fishing. Garnet Hill Lodge offers access to guided ice fishing excursions with Adirondack Mountain and Stream, where you can learn techniques and even catch a fish for yourself! Tours are customizable to fit each individual’s skill set and preferences, ensuring everyone has the chance to participate.
After a day filled with winter adventures, warm up and refuel at the lodge’s on-site dining options.
