At Garnet Hill Lodge, we cater to the entire family, offering year-round, outdoor adventures suitable for those of all ages and abilities. Our comfortable lodging includes rooms that can accommodate mom, dad and up to two children as well as adjoining rooms. Our on-site restaurant serves delicious Adirondack inspired fare and includes a children’s menu.
If you are looking to spend some quality time away with the family, look no further than our winter wonderland in the Adirondacks.
Situated in North River in the Adirondack Park, our 800-acre property rests at 2,000-feet elevation – this means that not only do we receive a lot of snow because of our location, but the high elevation helps it stick around longer.
Our sweet, semi-secluded spot in the Adirondacks includes expertly groomed trails perfect for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. If you’re a beginner, or have young kids with you, snowshoeing is a solid place to start with a stimulating outdoor winter activity. If you can walk, you can snowshoe!
We also offer both ski and snowshoe lessons by PSIA-certified instructors at our full-service Outdoor Center; rentals are available if you need them. Lessons are the perfect introduction to these popular winter activities, and they’re open to all ages and abilities. And, our overnight guests get to use our trail system at no additional cost (non-overnight visitors can purchase a half-day, full-day or season pass).
After a long day on the trails, you’ll want a comfortable place to retire to at the end of the evening. When you’re traveling with the entire family, you know that means enough space for everyone, but with the kids still close by!
We accommodate many families and groups here at Garnet Hill Lodge, including extended families getting together and family reunions. Our lodging options include 16 guest rooms in the Log House, which is our main lodge, plus nine additional rooms in the Birches and Tea House Cottages – located a short walking or driving distance from our main Lodge.
You can check out features like adjoining rooms and rooms with multiple beds to make your stay that much more pleasant for your family. The Tea House, for instance, consists of four guest rooms, each of which includes in-room televisions, in-room Keurig coffee machines, mini refrigerators and queen-or king-sized beds.
The Log House Restaurant, located in the main lodge, specializes in American fare with an Adirondack twist, and has many options to choose from, including a kids menu. Guests can make reservations for in-house dining, or utilize the takeout service.
Although guests are welcome to eat in their rooms, we suggest hanging out in our warm, intimate restaurant, enjoying a drink by the fireplace, and perhaps checking out the porches that overlook Thirteenth Lake and the Adirondack mountains. In addition, the family room in the main Lodge has a TV, pool table, seating areas, and some games for kids.
Keep in mind when scheduling your family vacation that working remotely is possible should you need to do so. However, if you can totally unplug and reset, we highly recommend it! Whether you’re coming during a school break or at another time, we welcome you and your loved ones to Garnet Hill to experience winter in the Adirondacks.
